Supporting the supply of life-saving medications

Koyiaki Community Clinic is located in Talek, in the Maasai Mara region of Kenya, and was founded by Dr. Njapit Jackson. Currently, the clinic's staff includes two doctors in addition to Dr. Jackson, two clinical officers, two nurses and a cleaner and watchman. The clinic serves a vast Maasai area and can provide care to about 80 people per day, with numbers reaching up to 120 on market days in Talek. Per year they treat up to 13,000 patients both from the Maasai Mara region in Kenya and Maasais crossing the border from Tanzania.

The range of services offered to the region's inhabitants is focused on the prevention and treatment of health issues: respiratory infections and various other diseases, malaria treatment, dental care, and of course, assistance in case of accidents or epidemic emergencies. Special attention is given to women during pregnancy, childbirth assistance, and basic vaccinations for children (vaccines are stored in a refrigerator powered by solar panels).

The care and prescribed medications are paid for by the patients based on their financial means, and in many cases, they are provided for free. This is where the Gianni Gromo Foundation steps in, supporting the monthly supply of medications, which are very costly for patients in these regions, and can now be prescribed without financial concerns.
